Fly Pharrell Glasses.

WWD: What inspired you?

Pharrell Williams: I guess it's American ambition. You know, to rise. Seeing that success is basically what you make it. These sunglasses are not about the struggle, but about the celebration of making it in this world. We made different pairs for different moments of the day, but overall they have this statement: 'I am going places.'

AMERICA SIGNS ARMAGEDDON SUICIDE DEATH PACT

We shouldn't delude ourselves. Shit is gonna get bad. Real fucking bad.

Continued quagmire in Iraq? Check.
Foreign isolationism? Check.
Unbridled nuclear proliferation (both at home and abroad)? Check.
Roe V. Wade overturned? Check.
A new generation of conservative judicial appointments? Check.
The disintegration of the church and state divide? Check.
The decline of middle class incomes? Check.
Weakening job market? Check.
Environmental deregulation? Check.
Media consolidation? Check.

And that's not even mentioning a draft, the partial privatization of social security, the gradual dismantling of a progressive income tax, and the continued clamp down of dissenting cultural and political voices. AND THIS IS JUST THE SHIT WE KNOW ABOUT!!!

Rational people -- i.e., those not infected with homophobia (04's deciding factor), racism, fiscal myopia, and greed -- need to rise up and hold the United States' government (and it's all branches, not just the Executive) responsible for their actions. There should be no down time in the political cycle. Everyone is exhausted and disenchanted, I know. But the stakes are too high to rest.

We also need to be more confrontational. I WISH TO GOD THAT DEAN WOULD'VE BEEN OUR MAN. I know that it's obvious in hindsight, but we needed someone who was willing to stand up and address Bush for taking us to Iraq (and not just how he handled Iraq). We needed someone who would speak truth to power and call Bush the megalomaniacal compulsive liar that he is.

WE SHOULD'VE TOLD THE BLUE STATES THAT THEY WERE MORE LIKELY TO DIE FROM DROWNING IN A PUDDLE OF TOBACCO SPIT THAN THEY WERE FROM BEING ATTACKED BY A TERRORIST.

I have love in my heart for John Kerry. But his defeat is not our defeat. We've come so far since the beginning of the Iraq War. Wehttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.image.gif now know that at least half of America doesn't live in this delisiounal state of fear and religious fervor. The democrats need new leadership if they're to be salvaged. But, if nothing else, this defeat should serve as a catalyst for that.

And we still have truth on our side. We can't despair about that.
